
Mobile Mechanic
Omaha Track Equipment, an established Omaha based company, is seeking a Mobile Mechanic to join our growing organization in the fast-paced heavy equipment industry. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operates out of company supplied service truck with crane
- Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections & diagnostics, identifying worn & damaged parts, fluid levels, etc.
- Performs necessary repairs and services as needed (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic)
- Replace hydraulic hoses and fittings when required
- Completes annual Hirail, Crane and DOT inspections
- Complete scheduled PM services that will include air, oil, coolant and fuel filters and fluids
- Make emergency repairs; at times after-hours; carry, monitor and answer company issued cellphone
- Maintain a safe working environment and observe all safety procedures, laws, policies and rules
- Read and understand operating manuals, service manuals, blueprints, technical drawings and schematics
- Fabricates and repairs parts and accessories with MIG and stick welder
- Check safety equipment on truck and/or equipment
- Write service reports that accurately document activities for each piece of equipment or project
- Perform assigned tasks in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner
- Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation
- Drive to and from assigned job site daily transporting supplies and equipment
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Demonstrated intermediate mechanical and basic mathematical skills
- Effective listening skills, including the ability to interpret, document, and follow oral instructions
- Valid driver’s license required (must not have any major driving offenses within the last three years)
- Class A or Class B CDL preferred (must have air brake endorsement and no manual transmission restrictions)
- Must be able to pass a railroad background check to obtain and maintain the credentials to work on railroad property
Work Requirements:
- Understand and accurately interpret/follow laws, rules, regulations, and other railroad/Omaha Track guidelines
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with a diverse group
- Ability to safely operate equipment and drive a DOT regulated vehicle
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT medical card, required for DOT regulated vehicle operation
- Ability to transverse and work on uneven surfaces in an outdoor environment submit to all elements/conditions
- Ability to change easily from one task to another (varying in nature) and deal with competing demands
- Travel: This position requires up to 24 consecutive days of travel per month
